Automated Monitoring and Waste Gas Treatment Solution for Pulp & Paper Chemical Production Lines

Papermaking and chemical production lines involve numerous process steps and diverse equipment brands. Line control, waste gas treatment, and wastewater treatment are often built by different suppliers with incompatible communication protocols. Data is scattered across separate monitoring interfaces, requiring operators to switch between systems to troubleshoot anomalies, which prolongs fault localization. Additionally, waste gas and wastewater are key areas of environmental regulation, demanding high standards for data recording and traceability that manual inspections cannot meet continuously. This solution adopts a four-layer architecture: "Terminal Acquisition—Local Control—SCADA Monitoring—Cloud Platform Operations." The terminal layer uses IoT controllers to collect device data and integrate communication protocols, enabling plug-and-play platform access compatible with multi-vendor devices. The control layer provides complete PLC cabinets, MCC cabinets, variable frequency drive cabinets, and low-voltage distribution panels configured per process section; explosion-proof enclosures can be selected based on site conditions. The monitoring layer aggregates data from multiple PLC stations via MODBUS, OPC, Profibus-DP, RS485, and Ethernet using the SCADA system. It displays operational status dynamically on control workstations and video walls, supporting hierarchical monitoring of high- and low-voltage systems, tiered alarm notifications, historical data queries, trend analysis, and video verification linked to cameras and DVRs. The platform layer leverages a SaaS IoT cloud to provide user, mobile, and backend configuration interfaces, enabling remote device operation and rapid response to anomalies. For waste gas and wastewater pool monitoring, data from all treatment units is unified under the MODBUS protocol. Communication protocols from multi-vendor device controllers are standardized and processed, presenting process, environmental, and equipment status on a single platform to meet regulatory data recording and traceability requirements. In multi-site scenarios, each plant's monitoring system connects to the central control center via a dedicated VPN network, allowing local control stations and the cloud to run simultaneously with bidirectional data exchange. The solution delivery includes personalized consulting throughout the project lifecycle and rapid, cost-effective platform deployment. It covers mechanical and electrical installation, electrical control programming and commissioning, and system maintenance services. This turnkey scope spans construction design, solution optimization, cabinet supply, installation, software development, and final commissioning.

Use Cases:Paper machine and pulping line control systems, chemical reactor and batching system control, waste gas treatment and desulfurization/SCR monitoring, wastewater plant and tank data acquisition, explosion-proof electrical cabinet solutions, multi-site production line centralized O&M, and IoT retrofitting of existing DCS/PLC systems.

Solve pain points

01Production line control, waste gas treatment, and wastewater treatment are built by different vendors, resulting in fragmented interfaces that hinder unified analysis.
02Devices from different vendors use inconsistent protocols such as Modbus, OPC, and Profibus-DP, making unified data integration difficult.
03Switching between systems to troubleshoot during anomalies leads to long fault localization times.
04Waste gas and wastewater are key targets for environmental regulation; manual inspections cannot meet the requirements for continuous data recording and traceability.
05Selecting and protecting electrical control equipment in hazardous areas requires high standards, making coordinated delivery of complete units and on-site construction challenging.
06Reactor and batching system parameter tuning relies on manual expertise, leading to batch consistency fluctuations.
07Data from multiple sites cannot be aggregated; the group lacks a unified operations view.
08Upgrading existing DCS/PLC systems requires production shutdowns, leaving a narrow window for retrofitting.

Calculation Basis: Energy efficiency grades and efficiency limits are referenced from GB 18613-2020 "Limits of Energy Efficiency and Energy Efficiency Grades for Electric Motors" and IEC 60034-30-1:2014. Product rated efficiency values are sourced from Wolong Electric Drive, JUMO, original product catalogs, and factory test reports. The energy-saving rate range is derived from statistical analysis of actual on-site measurements before and after retrofitting in Panpu's delivered projects under identical operating conditions. Actual performance may vary based on load rate, annual operating hours, and specific operational conditions.
